    Name:
    Alene R. Haney, 96, of McGregor, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, in Moody. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, McGregor, with Pat Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Cole Funeral Home.

    Alene was born in Florence, Texas, to the late Jonathan Tinkerers and Mary Elizabeth (Season) Ray. She was member of the 1927 Florence graduating class. She continued her education at the Kings Daughter's Hospital School of Nursing in Temple and Nixon-Clay Business College in Austin. On Nov. 23, 1933, she married Alva Arthur Haney in Lampasas. Through her life, she lived in Crockett and Bartlett prior to moving to McGregor in 1945. Alene was a member of Sixth and Adams Church of Christ in McGregor and enjoyed flowers, oil painting, and spent much time reading.

    Preceding her in death was her husband on Oct. 4, 1971; and sisters, Velma Davis, Laverne Hayden, and Maureen Rozacky.

    Survivors include son, James Ray Haney and wife, Lyn, of Salado; grandchildren, Debra Alferos and Gregory Haney; great-grandchildren, Kirston Alferos, Autumn Alferos and Cody Haney; and many other relatives and numerous friends.
