    SYDNEY BARR, JR (1986) Services for Sydney A. Barr, Jr., were held Nov. 5, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Hufft and Donald C. Wood officiating. Music was provided by Rusty and DeLores Shadel. Escorts were Jim Morgan, Albert Sien, Tom Johnson, Riley Layman, Tom Booth and Randy Lewis, and honorary escorts were Eugene Rumfelt, Bud McMahan, Bob Jones, Stanley Price, Lloyd Layman and Donald Fischer. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel.
    Sydney Alexander, Jr., son of Sydney Alexander and Alma Coffinan Barr, was born Sept. 15, 1909 in Springfield and died Nov. 3, 1986 at his home.
    In July of 1938 he was married to Helen Bee, daughter of Jasper and Orpha Bee. With the exception of 14 years spent in Chicago, Illinois, Oklahoma and Kansas, his entire life was spent in the Lebanon area as a dairy and stock farmer. He served on the ASC committee and was a member of the Laclede County School Board for several years.
    In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by two daughters, Beverly of Lebanon and Barbara.

    HELEN BEE BARR, was born February 26, 1917, near Lowery City, Missouri to Jasper and Orpha Jones Bee,and departed this life November 16, 2002 at her residence in Lebanon.
    She spent her early childhood in Washington State, returning to Missouri in 1926. Helen and her family attended the New Hope Baptist Church where she became a Christian and joined the church. She was very active in church as long as her health permitted, serving as teacher, song leader, Sunday school director and served as church treasurer for thirty two years. She loved her family, friends and was a great quilter and a wonderful cook.
    On July 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Sydney A. Barr Jr., and to this union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her husband Sydney, on November 3, 1986, and one daughter, Barbara Wethers.
    She is survived by her daughter, Beverly of the home; one uncle, Othel Jones; two step grandchildren, Beverly Hughes and her husband Mike, Barry Wethers and his wife Debbie. Three step great grandchildren, Kristen and Austin Kulhawick, and Taylor Wethers; also nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
    Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, a son in law, Henry "Hub" Wethers HI and a brother, Dale Bee.
