    Jonathan Lee Grubaugh, 72, passed away Thursday evening at the Morris County hospital. He was born near Council Grove on February 5th, 1894, and married Luretta Lehman, April 20th, 1919, in Scott City. They lived in Kansas City from 1923 until March 1943, when he retired to a farm near here. Grubaugh was a member of the Church of Christ Christian. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joshua and Harold Robert. Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, LeRoy Delbert Grubaugh of Kansas City, KS; and Charles Glen Grubaugh of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Marida) Barber, of Council Grove, KS, and Mrs. John (Faynola) Bettles, of Council Grove, KS; one brother, John Grubaugh, of Branson; and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, at the Church of Christ Christian, with the Rev. Dale Rider officiating. Burial will be in the Morris County Cemetery near Dwight, KS.

    Obituary of Luretta Tillie Grubaugh (Council Grove paper)
    Luretta Tillie Grubaugh was born on November 12th, 1897 to Samuel M. and Emma Finley Lehman. Birthplace was a sod house in Wichita County, Kansas on land homesteaded by her parents in 1886. Luretta died February 17th, 1989 at the home of her daughter Marinda Barber. She graduated from high school in Scott City, KS, and married Jonathan Lee Grubaugh on April 20th, 1919. Luretta was baptized in White Women creek near Leoti, KS as a young girl and was a member of the Church of Christ Christian since 1942. From 1919 to 1923 they farmed near Leoti, KS. From 1923 to 1942 they lived in Kansas City, Kansas. While there Jonathan worked for Cutter Hays packing company. From 1942 until 1983 Luretta lived on a farm east of Council Grove, KS. Since then she made her home with her children. She spent her life being a homemaker and raising her children. she enjoyed piecing and quilting quilts and other needlework making over 100 quilts to give to her children, grandchildren, and friends. She enjoyed her garden and flowers as long as she was able. Her husband preceded her death on November 10th, 1966. She was also preceded in death by three sons; Joshua Lee on January 19th, 1936; Harold Robert on November 21st, 1959; and Charles Glen on July 17th, 1976; and one great-grandson. She is survived by a son, LeRoy Delbert and his wife Deana of Kansas City, KS; two daughters; Marinda Barber and husband Don Barber; Faynola Bettles and husband John Bettles; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister Gladys Wood; and a brother Alvia Lehman and his wife Edma Mae both of Scott City, KS and three nieces and their families. She will be laid to rest in the family plot in the Morris Cemetery near Dwight, KS.
