    Dorothy R. Hanna, 79, died Sunday at University Hospital. She was a graduate of Pfeiffer University and received a master's degree from Syracuse University. She retired after 34 years from the North Syracuse School District, Smith Road Elementary. She had formerly worked at the first Karmelkorn Shoppe downtown. She was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church and the North Syracuse Teachers Union. She enjoyed her winters in Estero, Florida, and spending time with her family and entertaining. She was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Jean Craig and Lucille Countryman. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William J. Hanna Jr.; three sons, William J. (Joanne) of Syracuse, Thomas J. (Martha) of Liverpool and Timothy F. of Smithville Flats; grandchildren: Kristyn Hanna, Kimberly (Jason) Rehm, Heather (Joseph) Zebrowski, and Jeffrey, Johnathan and Benjamin Hanna; great-grandchildren, Zakary Gorman, Ryan Bourlier, and Hanna and Thomas Rehm; sister-in-law, Gertrude Owens; brother-in-law, Richard Countryman; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James St. Memorial contributions may be made to Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1700 Butternut Street, Syracuse, NY 13208.
