He graduated from Madison (Colgate) University in 1876 and was a pastor in Baptist Churches in Newark NJ, New York City, Gloversville NY and Auburn. Rev. Bourne received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity in 1898 from Colgate. ["The Barden-Bardeen Genealogy"]
