Name:
He removed with his parents to Janesville, Wis., in 1867, and to Milwaukee, in 1874. In July 1880 he removed to Chicago, and took the Latin Scientific Course in the old University of Chicago. He graduated in 1885 with the Degree of B.S., winning the Anderson English Essay prize and enjoying the title of class poet.

In the Fall of 1885 he was chosen Principal of the City High School at Sandwich, Ill., where he remained during the school year. He then abandoned teaching, and soon afterwards engaged in the coal business in Chicago, where he now resides. Beside the coal business, he engages to some extent in newspaper correspondence, and in literary and social work, being President of the Plymouth Club, composed of young men.

At its organization, Mr. Hammond was chosen by the Trustees to the University Factor, - the Business Department, - of the new University of Chicago, and entered upon the responsible duties thereof Aug. 1, 1892.

He m. at Milwaukee, Wis., Jun. 14, 1888, Fannie Loring Merrick, daughter of Lewis Merrick, formerly of Worcester and Monson, Mass.

Theodore married Fannie Loring MERRICK on 14 Jun 1888 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. Fannie was born on 29 Dec 1863 in Worcester, Massachusetts; died on 15 May 1947 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin; was buried in Wauwatosa Cemetery, Wauwatosa, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin.
