Name:
He was brought up in the King's court by his uncle, the1st Duke of Lancaster. He was summoned to Parliament on 1 Dec 1376, and was created Earl of Northumberland on 16 July 1377. For nearly twenty years various causes of discontent had been gradually estranging Henry from King Richard II, and he played a prominent part in procuring Richard's abdication (and probably his subsequent death) and the elevation of King Henry IV. The Earl and his son together defeated the Scots at Homildon Hill, near Wooler, on 14 Sep 1402. Because of their grievances, they joined the rising in favour of the Earl of March. In 1405 he was involved in treasonable plots, and was attainted in Parliament in 1406. Sir Henry De Percy was slain 19 Feb 1407/8 when his force was defeated at Bramham Moor, near Tadcaster, co. York.

Henry married Margaret DE NEVILLE on 12 Jul 1358. Margaret (daughter of Lord Ralph DE NEVILLE and Alice DE AUDLEY) was born about 1341 in Raby, Durham, England; died in May 1372. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Sir Henry 'hotspur ' PERCY, Knt. was born on 20 May 1364; died on 21 Jul 1403 in Killed at Shrewsbury; was buried in York Minster.
