Mr. Stearn's farm or "homestall,' fell into the possession of his son John, then to his grandson, Josiah, then to his great grandson, Phinehas Stearns, and did "lately" belong to the heirs of Mr. Abijah White his great great grandson. Inventory, Oct. 9, 1683, L481, 4s. He had ten children.

Samuel married Hannah MANNING on 1 Feb 1662/3. Hannah (daughter of William MANNING and Dorothy ?) was born on 21 Jun 1642 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts; died on 26 Feb 1723/4. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Name:
Isaac Stearns, from Nayland Parish, Suffolk, England, came to America in 1630, probably in the same ship with Gov. Winthrop and Sir Richard Saltonstall. he settled in Watertown, near Mount Auburn. He was a freeman in 1631; hence, a church member; and several years selectman. In 1647 he and Mr. Biscoe were appointed "to consider how the bridge over the river shall be built, and to agree with the workmen for doing it, according to their best discretion" - the first mention of a bridge over the Charles river at Watertown. He possessed unusual financial means for that time. He owned 467 acres of land, and the inventory of his estate amounted to L524.04.00.

Isaac married Mary BARKER in 1622. Mary was born in England; died on 2 Apr 1677. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
