SANDWICH -- Charles G. Host, 79, of Sandwich, formerly of Aurora, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Lamoureux, MIC, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with prayers at 6:45 p.m.
Mr. Host was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Aurora, to John and Caroline (Backes) Host. He married Beatrice Kosicek on Feb. 12, 1955, in Joliet.
He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1983 from the Aurora Post Office after 35 years and moved to Alma, Wis., returning to the area in 1993.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Scholtz of Plano; three grandchildren, Linda, David and Jason Scholtz; and two sisters, Marilyn Hicks of Aurora and Carole Greene of North Aurora.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Williams; and one brother, Earl Host.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Catholic Church Building Fund or the family.
