  Notes	Excerpt from Mayflower Increasing: "Ebenezer & Margaret were married a year and a half after the birth of their first child. The plymouth Quarter Sessions, 1687-1721, dated the third Tues. June 1701 tate that Margaret, "...convict by her own confession of having a Bastard child by fornication Is Sentenced to pay a fine of three pound and ten shillings fees & charges or be Publickly whipped ten striped who choe the former & payd sd fine." A financial agreement was made by the court to ensure Ebenezer supported the child so it would not be a burden on the town.
