    Name:
    Abigail was a descendant of Henry Howland, brother of John Howland of the Mayflower. Abner resided inDartmouth near Russell's Mill. He courtship of Ann was described as follows in December 1754: "And we understand that Abner Ricketson hath gone out of way in several Respects, enticing a young woman, Contrary to her parents so as to take her along without their consent and marry her before a Justice of the Peace...and we understand also that John Ricketson was assisting at the affair and went with him to the Justice when he went to be married and was one that gave bond to indemnify the Justice." He and his wife Ann and brother John sent in their papers on 17 Mar 1754/5 to be accepted and read before the Quaker Meeting. Abner bought a part of his father's land on 12 Oct 763, part of the homestead farm in the township of Dartmouth.
