    Clarissa Bliss Wiseman of La Vernia died Monday, May 24, at the age of 82.

    A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in La Vernia with the Rev. Steve Purdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Concrete Cemetery, two miles north of La Vernia.

    Survivors include her husband, William M. Wiseman of La Vernia; a son and wife; grandson; and granddaughter.

    Name:
    William M. (Bill) Wiseman III, passed away Aug. 18, 2014 in Cypress, Tx. He was born Nov. 3, 1932 in New York City and moved to his family?s historic homestead in LaVernia, TX. in 1933.

    He earned a degree in Engineering from Texas A&I Kingsville and served proudly as a First Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He worked 24 years for Tidewater Compression as Senior VP. Bill enjoyed restoring antique vehicles and collecting rare artifacts He also had a keen interest in military history and family genealogy. He worked diligently to restore his family?s 1896 home.

    Bill believed in helping others and leaving a place better than how he found it. He was an avid supporter of the LaVernia Fire Dept. and Youth Football. He gave generously to anyone in need. He made friends with everyone and all will miss his big laugh.

    Bill is preceded by his parents, Wm. and Clarissa Wiseman.

    He is survived by his wife Mary; children Walter R. Wiseman and Lydia Wiseman Jones, son-in-law George; grandsons Robert Abel and wife Sarah, John Abel and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Cayla, Crysta, Kaden, and Falon; plus cousins Jim and Anita Beard, Beth and Grant Durtschi.

    The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the ICU of N. Cypress Hospital and Good Shepard Hospice for their care, and especially C&S Caregivers for their support.

    A memorial service will be held at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Rd. @ 3PM Thurs. Aug. 21st. Rev. Fred Carter officiating.

    Graveside service will be held at 2PM Aug. 29th @ Concrete Cem. LaVernia, Tex., followed by a visitation, to be announced.
