    SOUTHINGTON Frederick H. Altfeter, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Madeleine (LaPerriere) Altfeter.

    Mr. Altfeter was born April 14, 1927, in Waterbury, the son of the late Frederick and Mildred (Slason) Altfeter.

    He was a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Southington. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy serving on the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
    He enjoyed sailing and remote control airplanes and was a member of the Winding Brook R/C Flying Club.

    Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Bruce Altfeter and his wife, Gail, of Plainville, MA, Madelyn Shore and her husband, Kent, of Sarasota, FL, Frederick Altfeter and his wife, Ellie, of Warner Robins, GA, and Ned Altfeter and his wife, Marta, of Cheshire; his sister, Gertrude Pettinicchi of Wolcott; his 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Bobby; his sister, Mildred Morrone; and his, Dog Beau.

    Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 10 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Avenue. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
