6. | Mabel TALVAS (4.William3, 2.William2, 1.Mathilde1) was born about 1026 in Alencon, Eure, France; died on 02 Dec 1079 in Murdered; was buried in Abbey Of Troarn, Eure, France. Notes:
Excerpt from "Origin and History of the Comtes de Montgomery......": Mabile was no ordinary woman. Du Motey gives this portrait of her: 'His future wife was a young girl, quite small, with an exceptional "finesse d'espirit" and full of energy. She was cheerful, expressed herself with great ease and made her decisions boldly.... She was undoubtedly a great and fascinating personality. During the violent war which shook her country to its very foundations she defended her own territory sward in hand, while Roger, as second in command to the Duke, drove out invaders, Henry I of France and the Count of Anjou. The abbot Durand at Troarn called her 'the shield of the country and the bulwarkof the frontiers." When Roger was called by the Conqueror to follow him toEngland, Mabile took over the administration and defence of Hiemois and Belleme. This best shows of what metal Mabile was wrought.
Family/Spouse: Roger DE MONTGOMERY, II. Roger (son of Roger DE MONTGOMERY, I and JOSCELINE) died on 27 Jul 1094 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
