Mervyn William Bremmer, age 88, passed away, Friday, July 11, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Alfred Leroy Bremmer and great-grandchildren, Zachary Wayne Brooks, Nathan Tuffelmire, Alanna Tuffelmire.

Mervyn will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Helen Bremmer (Slawson); his sons, Mervyn and Patricia (Doty) Bremmer III, Paul and Sharon (Graver) Bremmer Sr., Steven and Kathleen (Bainbridge) Bremmer Sr.; his daughters, Diane and Michael Schafer, Cindi and Gerry Baer; his 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Mervyn retired from East Grand Rapids High School after working Grounds Maintenance for 15 years.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Mervyn's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building). Pastor Joshua Good will be officiating. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. In honor of Mervyn, contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
