Name:
Henry Somerset, 5th Earl of Worcester, son and heir, was born in Herefordshire in 1576-77. He married Anne Russell. They had nine sons and four daughters. She died at Worcester House on 8 apr 1639. He was summoned to Parliament v.p. as Lord Herbert by writ directed 'Henr. Herbert Ch'r.' During the Civil War he advanced huge sums of money to King Charles I, for which he was created marquess of Worcester on 2 Mar 1642/3. His castle in Raglan was one of the last places that held out against the Parliament. After surrender he was brought up to London and committed to Black Rod, in Covent Garden. Henry Somerset, marquess of Worcester died testate in custody at Covent Garden on 18 Dec 1646. They were buried at St. George's Chapel, Windsor.

Henry married Anne RUSSELL on 16 Jun 1600 in St. Martin's Ludgate. Anne died on 8 Apr 1639 in Worcester House. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
