  1. 1.  Capt Samuel WARD was born on 25 Sep 1739 in Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts; died on 14 Aug 1826 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

    Name:
    Capt. Samuel Ward resided at Worcester, and after serving one or more campaigns against Canada, commenced business in trade at Groton, and soon after removed to Lancaster. He m. Dolly, b. 1745, dau. of Judge John Chandler, of Worcester, Dec. 26, 1769; at which time he was of Lancaster. She d. there Dec. 31, 1818. He survived his wife and all his children, and d. at Lancaster, Aug. 14, 1826; aged 87; having made his will on the 26th of July of that year. He left a large estate, which he bequeathed to his relatives and to charitable uses.

    He was a gentleman of the old school, a Magistrate and Rep. from Lancaster in the General Court - affable to all, and kind to the poor.

    Samuel married Dorothy CHANDLER on 26 Dec 1768. Dorothy (daughter of John CHANDLER and Dorothy PAINE) was born on 16 Sep 1745; died on 31 Dec 1818 in Lancaster, Worcester Co., Massachuetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
