Mervin Z. Slawson 91, born May 6, 1913 of Santa Maria, Passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Marian West Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 4pm at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.

Private inurnment in the Dudley-Hoffman Memory Garden.

Mervin was born in Kansas in 1913. He served in the US Army from 1942-1945. May 10 of 1942 he married Dorothy Walline. After attending art school in Los Angeles, and at the request of Captain Allan Hancock, Mervin moved to Santa Maria in 1946 to work for the USC college of Aeronautics as a Link Trainer instructor, mechanic, and photographer. From 1958-1978, Mervin was a photography instructor at Santa Maria High School, producing 18 yearbooks during that time. He was a member of Hesperian Lodge #264 since 1956. Throughout his years, Mervin had a deep love and interest in photography, raising Orchids, collecting stamps, and fishing in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mervin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Slawson; a daughter Sharee Fromholtz from Colorado, sisters Valda Price, Vivian Stone, and Ruby Fisher all living in Kansas, and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Sharee Mydland Fromholtz, 76, Colby, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Lebo to Mervin Zabriskie Slawson and Betty Elizabeth Mydland-Slawson.
She married Armin "Jack" Fromholtz on June 28, 1955 in Colby.
Survivors include her husband, Colby; two sons, Jett Fromholtz and wife, Barbara, St. Francis, and Shawn Fromholtz and wife, Lisa, Colby; two daughters, Jenifer Kraus and husband, Charlie, and Trese Holle and husband, Ken, all of Hays; a son-in-law, Russell Bowers, Colby; a very special family friend, Anna Stithem, Colby; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Dorothy Slawson; and a daughter, Stephanie Bowers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or High Plains Regional Dialysis Center, Goodland.
