Name:
"William Henry Moore and His Ancestry": Theresa Moore taught school in Asa Bennet's barn in the place later called Newark Valley, Tioga County, in the summer of 1799. In 1800, she taught in a log school house that was built in the corner of Captain Asa Leonard's orchard. In Asa Leonard's account book is the entry with Henry Moore: "By his daughter Thersey, time to keep school, 12 weeks at 5s 4d = L3.4s." In the winter of 1801 she and her husband commenced housekeeping on a farm of fifty-five acres in the south part of Lot No. 58. they continued to live in that house until the spring of 1810, later moving about from one house to another in the same neighborhood. It was said of Jonas Muzzy that he never forgot the fact that he was born at noon for his father required his services until noon of the day he attained his majority, and he often told of that last half-day spent in building a rail fence in a snow storm without mittens.

Theresa married Jonas MUZZY on 27 Aug 1801. Jonas died on 17 Dec 1864 in Newark Valley, Tioga Co., New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Henry (son of Nathaniel SLOSSON, II and Rhoda JUDD) was born on 30 Nov 1808 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts; died on 08 Jan 1864 in Oswego, Tioga Co., New York; was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Owego, Tioga Co., New York.
