    Alan K. Kidder, 91, died Wednesday morning, November 7, 2013 at his home in Rockville Centre.

    Born in Swanton, August 4, 1922, the son of George M. and Clara K. Kidder.

    Alan enlisted in the Army Air Force Pilot Training Program and following his graduation on February 8, 1944, as a commissioned Second Lieutenant and pilot, he was appointed to the 8th Air Force in Europe, flying 30 combat missions before his transfer to the 491st Bomb Group Headquarters where he served as a briefing officer until the end of the war.

    Dorothy Kidder Bliss, a resident of St. Albans, passed away on her 87th birthday, Saturday June 25, 2011 at the Northwestern Medical Center ICU following a lengthy illness.

    Dot was born on June 25, 1924 in Swanton, Vermont, the daughter of the late George Kidder and Clara Kinsley Kidder.

    Dot attended schools in Swanton, graduating Salutatorian of the class of 1942. She attended Burdett College in Boston and worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Arthur Gladstone in Burlington, VT in 1945-1946. On February 15, 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Porter Bliss, Jr. in Swanton, VT. In later years, after raising their two sons, Robert George Bliss Sr. and John "Jack" A. Bliss, she assisted her husband in his insurance business, S.S. Watson Insurance Agency in St. Albans.

    In the year that Bob was to be National President of the National Insurance Agents, their older son Robert, a recent graduate of University of Miami Law School, died in April 1977 of leukemia at the young age of 27.

    Dorothy was predeceased by her son Robert George Bliss Sr. in 1977, her husband Robert P. Bliss, Jr. in February 2004 and granddaughter Christi Kelli Corrigan in June 2009.

    Dorothy is survived by her two brothers, Alan Kidder of Rockville Center, NY and Wesley Kidder and his wife Elvy of Swanton, VT, her son John (Jack) and his wife Lynnda Bliss of St Albans, her daughter in law, Janice Corrigan and husband Dr. Michael J. Corrigan.

    She was a very loving and supportive grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Her surviving grandchildren are: Robert G. Bliss, Katy Anne Bliss, Sean Bliss, Jason Bliss, Jamie Corrigan and Casey Corrigan. She also leaves many special nieces and nephews, her McDonalds coffee group and many close friends.

    Dot was a very active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Phi Alpha Group, United Methodist Women and Kerbs Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She was also a Grey Lady at Kerbs Memorial Hospital and a volunteer at Verdelle Village and Holiday House for many years. Dot was a people person and loved to enjoy special times with her close friends and family. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed nurturing a wide array of beautiful house plants and home garden all of her life. Dot was a great cook and hosted many memorable family Thanksgivings & Christmas holiday dinners at their Maquam Shore residence that they loved so much. Bob and Dot enjoyed wintering in South Florida for 25 years and will be missed by all of their southern friends.

    A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. from Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, 11 Church St. St. Albans City. Lay Speaker Mr. Joe Davison will officiate. Committal Services and Interment will be private for immediate family members only in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton. Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

    SAINT ALBANS/ SWANTON - A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 10 a.m. from Saint Paul's United Methodist Church. Certified Lay Speaker, D. Joseph Davison officiated. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Claire Chevalier Hungerford. Special Music was offered by nephew, Patrick White playing the guitar and singing the hymn "All I Ask of You" from the Weston Priory. Niece, Cece Wick read the Twenty-Third Psalm and daughter-in-law, Janice Corrigan delivered the Eulogy. Others offering Special Words of Remembrance were, Judy Grodzinsky, Shirley Elliott, Doctor Michael Corrigan and Burt Paquin Sr.

    Among the many delegations in attendance were representatives from the, Saint Paul's United Methodist Women, Phi Alpha Group, Northwestern Medical Center, including the Auxiliary, Holiday House, Handy Toyota and Handy Chevrolet, The Paquin Group, S.B. Collins and Jolly Associates, Sticks and Stuff, Wood & Kidder, Inc., Linda Kidder Associates, The Total Home Center, Ashley Home Furnishings, Office of Doctor Michael Corrigan, Swanton Village Green Apartments, McDonalds Coffee Group, Saint Albans Rotary, Hannaford's, Swanton Historical Society, Saint Albans Historical Museum, The Heald Funeral Home, XL Construction, The Allen Agency, Tom Hungerford Insurance, National Life Insurance Company, Berg, Carmolli & Kent Insurance, REL Team, Channels 15 and 16 Cable Access, Swanton Village Fire Department and Auxiliary, and Howard's The Flower Shop and Antiques.

    Interment followed at the Bliss family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton, with Mr. Davison reading the committal prayers. The bearers, all Dorothy's grandchildren, were, Robert G., Katy Ann, Sean and Jason Bliss, Jamie and Casey Corrigan.

    The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma will be the celebrant and Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE the homilist. The Rite of Committal with military honors will follow at the Kidder family lot in Riverside Cemetery.

    SWANTON - Wesley F. Kidder, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012. Wes was born in Swanton on June 4, 1927, the son of the late George M. and Clara Kinsley Kidder.

    Wes was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Elvy M. Hubbard on June 16, 1950, and they had three children.

    Wes operated Wood & Kidder Furniture Store for many years and in 1975 established Kidder Memorial Home. A funeral director for over 64 years, he also served his community as an active member of many civic organizations.

    Wes was predeceased by his son, George H. Kidder who died in 2002; and his sister, Dorothy K. Bliss who died in 2011.

    He is survived by his wife, Elvy H. Kidder; and their other two children, Stephen H. Kidder and his wife, Marian C. Kidder, and Linda J. Kidder and her husband, W. Patrick White, and their families; brother, Alan K. Kidder; six grandchildren, John W. Kidder, Benjamin K. Kidder, Michael S. Kidder and his wife, Danielle D. Kidder, Emily A. Kidder, Ryan P. White, and Jillian M. White; three greatgrandchildren, Sean, Nicholas and Riley Kidder, as well as two more great-grandchildren expected in the coming year; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

    Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton.     SWANTON - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The principle celebrant was the pastor, Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma. Other concelebrating priests were, Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE, Director of Faith Formation for the Society of Saint Edmund, Father Jean Paul Laplante, Chaplain of Our Lady of the Meadows and Ave Maria Homes in Richford, Father John Sheridan, OSA, a longtime family friend from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., and Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE, Director of Campus Ministry at Saint Michael's College and Spiritual Director of Saint Anne's Shrine, Isle La Motte, who also delivered the homily. Eugene LaBombard and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by soloists, Jeanne Begnoche and Gary Moreau, accompanied by organist, Michael Olmstead. The funeral procession was led in and out of the church by a large guard of honor made up of members of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Assembly 2207, Swanton. Also forming an honor guard were members of Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Swanton Village Fire and Police Departments, Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, as well as members of the National and Vermont Funeral Directors Associations. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Wesley's casket by his daughter, Linda Kidder, and his son, Stephen Kidder. Wes's wife, Elvy Kidder, then placed the crucifix. Readings from scripture were proclaimed by daughter, Linda Kidder, and daughter-in-law, Marian Kidder. The Offertory Gifts were presented by granddaughters, Emily and Danielle Kidder, and William White and Arthur Goodhue. Patrick White; nephews, Alan John Kidder and John "Jack" Bliss; great-nephew, Jason Bliss; as well as, Alfred Miller and Richard Cardillo. Military Honors were accorded to the World War II and Korean Navy Veteran by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team. The American Flag was folded by 1st SG Dan Landry and SPC Derrek Murray and presented to Wes's grandniece, 2nd Lt. Eileen A. Kidder Kachuck, U.S. Army, who then presented to Wes's grandson, Staff Sgt. John W. Kidder of the VT Army National Guard, who presented the American Flag to his grandmother, Mrs. Elvy Kidder. Taps were sounded by Bugler, SPC Travis Dube. Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Honors, a reception was held for family and friends at the My-T-Fine Restaurant hosted by Mrs. Nancy Paquette and staff, with a special Jester Toast offered by Dr. Robert Barker.
