    Mrs. Laura F. Slawson, 84, Iberia, died Monday in an Eldon Nursing home after a lingering illness.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Iberia Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Tyler officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery.

    Survivors include: Two sons, Willard Slawson, St. Louis and Edward Slawson, Iberia; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Livingston, Iberia; Mrs. Katherine Thomas, Mission, Kan.; Mrs. Edith Blanner, Webster Groves; and Mrs. Eska Lee Cole, Memphis, Tenn.; one niece, Mrs. Maude Duncan, St. Louis; one nephew, Ernest Thompson, Hanover, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

    Ruth M. Livingston, 90, Iberia died Wednesday at St. Marys Health Center. She was born March 8, 1907, in Miller County, a daughter of James and Laura Capehart Slawson. She was married July 4, 1926, in Iberia, to Berry Livingston, who survives at the home.

    She was a 1924 graduate of the Iberia Academy. She was a 50-year member of the Iberia Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Iberia First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

    Other survivors include: one daughter, Lita Lynn Keeth, Iberia; two sisters, Edith Blanner, Kirkwood, and Eska Lee Cole Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one grandson.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Iberia First Baptist Church.

    The Rev. Quintin Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Rekus funeral Home, Iberia.

    Memorials are suggested to Iberia First Baptist Church.

    Willard Slawson, 82, Crocker, died Friday at the Dixon Oaks Health Centre, Dixon. He was born Sept. 26, 1910, at Iberia, a son of James and Laura Capehart Slawson. He was married July 19, 1961, at Iberia, to Bernice Dickerson Bond, Who died Aug 8, 1988.

    He retired in 1970 from Fisher Auto Body in St. Louis after more than 45 years employment. He had lived in Crocker since 1970. He was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church.

    Survivors include: one son, Selwyn Slawson, Fall Brook, Calif.; two daughters, Joy Cantrell, Crocker and Ylynn Carr, Sun City, Calif.; two step-sons, Roger Bond and Bobby Lou Bond, both of Iberia; three sisters, Ruth Livingston, Iberia, Edith Blanner, Kirkwood, and Eska Lee Cole, Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia, with the Rev. Haskell Orrick officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dixon Oaks Activity Fund, Dixon.

    Edward H. Slawson, 72, of Iberia, died Sunday, June 2, 1985, at his home. HE was born Sept 15, 1912, near Iberia to James and Laura Capehart Slawson. On April 19, 1939, he was married in St. Louis to Leva Groff, who survives at the home.

    Mr. Slawson retired in 1974 as a corrections officer for the state of Missouri. HE was a member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Slawson of Congerville, Ill.; a daughter, Virginia Milbourn of Iberia; a brother, Willard Slawson of Crocker; three sisters, Ruth Livingston of Iberia, Edith Blanner of Kirkwood and Eska Lee Cole of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Iberia Church of the Nazarne with the Rev. John Bouldrey officiating. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to the church.

    Edith Slawson Blanner, 87, of St. Louis died Oct. 12, 2007. She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Iberia to James L. and Laura Capehart Slawson. On Jan. 10, 1940, she was married to Burton Blanner, who preceded her in death.

    She is survived by a son and wife, Lawrence "Larry" and Judy Blanner; a grandson, Patrick Blanner; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Eska Lee Cole of Memphis, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service was held Nov. 17 at the Community Christian Church where she was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher.

    Eska Lee Slawson Cole, 87, died on December 6, 2009. Eska Lee was born on July 30, 1922 in Iberia, Missouri, the daughter of the late James and Laura Slawson. She was the widow of the late William Quincy (Bill) Cole of Memphis, whom she married shortly after World War II in Webster Grove, Mo. She was predeceased by her four sisters, Edith Blanner, Catherine Thomas, Ruth Livingston, and Maude Duncan; and by her two brothers, Willard Slawson and Edward Slawson. She is survived by her nephews Lawrence Blanner, David Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, and her niece, Lee Lynn Keeth. She is also survived by her dear friend, Billie Jean Johnson, who cared for her in her final illness, and by a host of loving friends whom she touched and ministered to with prayer and inspiration. Eska Lee was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church, which she and Bill joined in 1953. At Lindenwood she was a member of Circle Two of the Christian Women's Fellowship and of the Christ Care Ministry Committee. She was also a member of the Harbor Town Bible Study Group. She was a member of the Azarean Circle of the Kings Daughters, an organization she supported for many years. Eska Lee had a keen interest in all aspects of gardening and, in particular, the cultivation of roses. She was a founding member and past President of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She was for several years a docent for Dixon Gallery & Gardens. Eska Lee was also interested in gourmet cooking and cuisine. To learn more about this, she completed a course of study at a school of French cooking in Dieppe, France. Eska Lee was an authority on fine china and silverware, and she was always happy to share her expertise with her many friends. In this connection, she operated The China Mater, a distributor of antique and pre-owned china. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
