- Grindal Rawson was a carpenter and cabinet maker, and was much distinguished for his mechanical genius as well as for his general intelligence. During the Revolutionary war, he was employed by the U.S. Government in the manufacture of utensils of war. He settled in Providence about 1741, was an exemplary member of the Rev. Dr. Hitchcock's church. [1]
