- Jonathan Warner removed early from Hatfield to Hardwick and resided a few years in the south part of the town. In 1743 he bought a large farm adjoining the Common, land which was in the family for many years. He was an energetic and thrifty farmer and also kept the store and tavern at the south end of the common.
