- In December 1541 Edward Waldegrave with many others, including his future wife, were indicted in connection with the trial for adultery of Katherine Howard, Queen of King Henry VIII. His offence was"'with-holding from his Majesty the King, knowledge of certain letters which have been confiscated from a chest." he was confined in the Tower during the trial, received a sentence of life imprisonment, but was later pardoned.
