      Clifford W. Lawther, 94, of Hempfield Towers, Greensburg, died Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. He was born May 5, 1895, in McKeesport, a son of the late Alex W. and Mary Jane Harris Lawther.

      Prior to retirement, he was employed as a tool and die maker for Elliott Co., Jeannette, for 45 years. He was a charter member and 75 year member of the First Baptist Church of Jeannette, charter member of North Hempfield VFD, life member of FOE Aerie 844 of Jeannette, and member of the Arlington Sportsmen's Club and Elliott Co., Retirees Club.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Isabelle Collins Lawther, in 1974; two sons, William and Orville Lawther; a daughter, Virgila Lauffer; and a brother, Thomas Lawther.

      He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Schuck Burkett Lawther; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Elsie Jean) Jones of Woodlawn, Jeannette; a son Thomas . Lawther of Delmont; a stepson Richard Burkett of Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
