  	John Jenkins was born in England in 1614, and was united in marriage to Mary Ewer on Feb. 2, 1652 at Barnstable. She was Quakeress and the widow of Henry Ewer who was born in London in 1629, came to America with is father Thomas and died very soon after his marriage to Mary. John and Mary probably resided on the Ewer farm in Barnstable near "Coggins Pond" as it was then called; this pond is passed on the left in going into the village of Barnstable from West Barnstable on the State highway. A consideration of all tradition and evidence inclines one to the belief that John Jenkins' remains rest in the old burying ground at Barnstable previously noted. [1]
