    • He was a founder and trustee of the National Savings Bank of Albany and became its president in 1872. For eighteen years he was a member of the New York Board of Charities and its vice-president in 1885. The legislative act creating the Albany Washington Park named him a commissioner which position he held for twenty-one years when he declined appointment. [1]
