- He was appointed postmaster at Barre, Mass, by President Taylor; was cashier of the Mechanics Bank and of the City National Bank, of Worcester, and later president of the First National Bank in the same city. He was appointed custodian of the plates and dies in the Treasury Department at Washington, D.C., by Secretary Boutwell in 1870, and held the position seven years. He was a man of sterling integrity.
