- John Gleason the father, enlisted Jan. 4, 1864, in Co. I, 17th Ill. Cav., and served as Bugler. Was with Pickett's command on the Raid in Missouri in the fall of 1864.
In 1880 he purchased a farm near Ida Grove, Ida Co., Ia., but a few years later removed to Rockefeller, and in 1898 the returned to Libertyville, Ill. [1]
