- Excerpt from "Genealogies of Hadley Families": Samuel son of William, was Representative 1685 and 1686, Colonel of the Regiment, Judge of Probate, and one of his Majesty's Council, and the most important man, after the death of Col. Pynchon, 1703, in all the western part of the Province. About 1687, he removed to Hatfield, where he died.
