    Notes 
    • From "History of Winnebago County, Wisconsin": John R. Padelford built a pre-emption shanty on the northwast quarter of Section 14, in February, 1846, and is therefore, one of the very earliest settlers in the town. In the spring of 1847, he moved his family to this place, where he has since resided. He helped to open the first roads in the town, and took a prominent part in its early organization and improvement. His fine farm is among the best in the county, and he ranks as one of its prominent farmers.
