    • It is said that he was one of the seven men who, during the attack upon Deerfield, Mass., successfully defended the house which took fire after the Indians left. they pursued the Indans and David was killed the same day in the "Fight in Deerfield medow", Feb. 29, 1703-4.

    David, son of David Hoyt and Mary Wells, is the husband of Mary H. Edwards. He is buried in a common grave in the south-eastern corner of the ground buried with the victims of the Deerfield massacre, in the Old Deerfield Burying Ground in Deerfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts.
