  Notes	Excerpt from "The Descendants of George Holmes": Jehoshaphat was among the first settlers in Connecticut and was a prominent man in Pomfret. He was chosen "lister" in 1716, Selectman in 1719 and '20, and Town Clerk and treasurer in 1718. To the last office he was elected in every succeeding year until his death. He was also clerk of the church for many years, which office he also held at death.
