- From NEHG register: He had an excellent military record during the French and Indian War and in the American Revolution. From 24 Sept. to 14 Oct. 1756 he served as sentinel under Capt. Benjamin Flagg in Col. Chandler's regiment. They marched to reinforce the forces at Lake George. In August 1757 he was one of the soldiers who marched on the Alarm for the relief of Fort William Henry. In 1758 he served under Capt. John Fry in the Expedition to Lake George. On 2 April 1759 he enlisted in Col. John Chandler, Jr.'s regiment for service in the campaign under Gen. Jeffrey Amherst for the invasion of Canada. In the Massachusetts records relating to the American Revolution he is mentioned successively as sergeant, ensign, lieutenant and, finally, captain.
He was treasurer of Worcester in 1780 and 1781.
