    • He was a carpenter, built the last house he lived in in 1824, moved in 1 Jan. 1825, the same house now being occupied by his grandson, Chester Fitch. He was buried in a small private buying plot on his farm that he willed to be used for Fancher blood and their wives.

      In the military Minutes of the Council of Appointments, N.Y., 1783-1821, is recorded: Apr. 20, 1814, Reuben Fancher, Lieutenant in Capt. Squire Wood's Company, Lieut. Col. Abijah Harris' 38th Regiment of Infantry. In 1816 reuben Fancher Captain in same Regiment. In 1817 he resigned. Reuben was a member of the New Canaan episcopal Church in 1797. [1]
