- Ambrose was a soldier in the French and Indian War and the Crown Point Expedition; was wounded by an arrow. It is said that he participated in the Boston Tea Party. He lived near Philadelphia; his home was in one of the winter camps of General Washington's Army and his wife cooked the soldiers' rations.
