- Excerpt from "Families Directly Descended from all the Royal Families in Europe": Thomas Holland, son of Thomas and Alive (Fitz-Alan) Holland, was Earl of Kent, Duke of Surrey, Baton of Holland, Woodstock, Earl Marshal, and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He was taken prisoner and beheaded at the Battle of Cirencester in 1400, on account of his loyalty to his cousin, the deposed King Richard III. At the time of his death, he was bethrothed to Constance, dau. of Prince Edmund de Longley, fifth son of Edward III and Duke of York.
