- Excerpt from Royal Families Americans of Royal and Noble Ancestry, Vol. One, Gov. Thomas Dudley: He was ordained 19 Nov 1696 at Hampton, on which occasion the Rev. Joshua Moody of Portsmouth gave the charge. Eventually, John accepted the pastor position in Dover where he remained until his death. He recorded the deaths of his siblings, as well as the births of his children and early deaths of some.
