- Dorothy G. Fillmore, 94, passed away peacefully at her home at The Cloisters of Deland on July 14, 2013. Born in Huntsville, AL, August 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Bess Gilliam. Dorothy was a graduate of Huntsville High School and Sullins College in Bristol, Va. During WWII she worked as a civilian employee at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville and the Panama Canal Zone where she met and married her husband, M/Sgt. Richard "Dick" Fillmore. They traveled extensively during his career in the Air Force and settled in Deltona, FL after Dick retired from the Post Office. Dorothy moved to The Cloisters in 1998 where she was loved by the staff and residents for her grace and humor. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband and is survived by two children; Richard of Acworth, GA; and John of Clyde, NC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and seven nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs of The Cloisters, Fish Memorial Hospital, and Halifax Hospice of Volusia for the wonderful care she received at the end of her life. Dorothy will be interred with her husband at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on September 20, 2013
