- He was summoned to Parliament 14 Nov 1621. Henry succeeded to the title of 4th Baron Delaware on 7 June 1618. He gained the rank of captain in 1624 in the service of the Earl of Oxford's Regiment of Foot (Note: Sir Henry West was the 5th great-grandfather of the Hon. Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville (1827-1908), Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the United States from 1881-1888. Sir Lionel, who succeeded his elder brother Mortimer in the barony of Sackville, submitted the birth and baptismal records of the children of Henry's grandfather, Thomas and Anne (Knolly's West, 2nd Lord De la Warr. These records, known as the "Bennet Roll" by Samuel Bennet, Esq. (ca l653-1735), were published in the May 1883 issue (9:461-464) of the "The Magazine of American History with Notes and Queries".
