- He was a Quaker, a cordwainer and merchant. His farm supplied cheese, meat and corn. Isaac had a grist mill and was an extensive land owner. He laid out roads, erected waterworks and taking much interest in civic affairs, was also a great reader. In 1740 his mind became imbalanced by the eloquence of the famous preacher Whitefield and his son Peleg was appointed his guardian in 1742. [1]
