- Governor Coddington was born in 1601, in Boston, Lincolnshire, England, whence he is known to have come, and sailed from Southampton on his first coming to America, arriving at Salem, in 1630; he died at Newport, January 4, 1678, aged 77 years; his first wife was Mary Mosely, daughter of Richard, of Ouseden, County Suffolk, England, who came with him on his first arrival.
He returned to England after the death of his first wife; he married a second, Mary, whose surname is unknown, about 1631; she died July 30, 1647.
