- He was the son of Samuel Vernon. Daniel received a superior education and spoke several languages. he was long a tutor in the family of Lodowick Updike of North Kingstown. He was a town clerk and constable. he was appointed marshal of the Narraganset region (of Rhode Island) in 1686, which had been injuriously claimed by Connecticut. It was now called the Kings's Province, but subject to Rhode Island. He immigrated ca 1666 to Rhode Island. [1]
