- He was the son of William and Susannah (Wren) Holder of Alverton, co. Gloucester. He was a Quaker of Alverton, co. Gloucester, 9 miles fromBristol. He arrived at Boston from London, 27 July 1656, aged 25. he was imprisoned and whipped the next year and in the following year had an ear cut off. However, he harkened no better after these modes of persuasion, yet flourished on transplanting himself to Providence soon after. He immigrated on 27 Jul 1656 to Boston. [1]
