- Jonathan Avery was a farmer and trader; lived near the ferry in Groton and traded in horses to the West Indies. He was on the list of Groton freemen 1708; and with his wife was in full communion with the First Church of Groton, Nov. 22, 1727. He had lot No. 15 in the assignment of lots on the cove. He died in Cuba, of yellow fever, about 1741. [1]
