He was a sergeant in Capt. Edward Sparrow's company, Col. John Jacob's regiment in the American Revolution; he enlisted on 23 July 1780 and was discharged on 27 October 1780 with service of three months five days. The company was detached o reinforce the Continental Army; the roll was sworn to t Middleborough (MSSR, 1:110: DAR Patriot index).

In 1790 Nathan Alden of Middleborough was listed with two males over age 16, two males under 16, and three females (M637-4, p.172). This Nathan Alden has not been found in the 1800, 1810 or 1820 census indexes. In 1800 Otis Alden was living in Fairhaven (M32-19, p. 419) and Earl Alden was listed in Middleborouth (M33-47, p.517), but neither has male or female over age 45 in the household.

Nathan married Priscilla MILLER on 16 Oct 1766 in Middleborough, Massachuetts. Priscilla (daughter of John MILLER and Priscilla BENNETT) was born on 19 May 1745 in Middleborough, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; died on 19 Sep 1807; was buried in Old Cemetery, Middleborough, Massachusetts.
