Derrel Clayton "Clay" Jones, 77, of Plano passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Justin Cemetery in Justin. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home in Justin.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Claude Alumni Association located at P.O. Box 222, Claude, Texas 79019.
Clay was born on Oct. 20, 1932, in Floydada to John Arthur and Eva Lena Bennett Jones. He served in the United States Navy from Sept. 14, 1950, to Sept. 23, 1959, and then in the Army from Aug. 4, 1961, to Jan. 31, 1976. He was a veteran of the Korean War era and Vietnam era and peace time. He was a very decorated helicopter pilot. He retired from the military in 1976 as a CW4 to live out his dream as a cattle rancher in Lydia and DeKalb. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and a well-respected man of the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alton.
Survivors: Clay is survived by his wife, Johnnie Faye Annen Jones; his sons, Tony from the Colony, John and wife, Maria, of The Colony, Robert and wife, Anita, of Richardson and James and wife, Wanda, of Justin; his daughter, LaWanna of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill of Missouri; sister, Carole of Amarillo; and numerous extended family members.

Funeral Services for Barbara Fern (Slawson) Jones, 67, formerly of Lydia, TX, now of The Colony, Texas were held Thursday, May 17, 2001 in Ringling, OK. Burial followed in Ringling Memorial Cemetery, Ringling, OK.
Ms. Jones was born in Grady, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John Lunsford and Bessie "Miller" Slawson. Ms. Jones was raised at Ringling. She lived in several states and countries, including Germany, and Iran. In the late 1970's she located in Lydia, Texas where she was employed as the Manager of Juanita's Restaurant and the Phillips 66 in New Boston, TX. for twenty years. In 1998 she moved to The Colony. She was preceded in death by her father on March 26, 1971; her mother on December 12, 1981; two sisters, Roxie Linton on April 18, 1998, Vernie Dietrich on Nov. 30, 1999; and one brother, Terry Dale Slawson.
Survivors include two sons, John Jones of The Colony, Tx and Tony Jones of El Paso; one daughter, Lawanna Jones of Shawnee, Oklahome; three brothers, Melburn Slawson of Rush Springs, Donald Slawson of Springer, Johnnie Slawson of Shawnee and Montie Slawson of Alvarado, Tx; two sisters, Evelyn Paul of Ringling and Patricia Slawson of Sand Point, Idaho; and three grandchildren.
