    George P. died at the home of his son, Byron Godfrey in Elkhart, Indiana. He was educated at Newburgh Academy ad in 1845, emigrated to Michigan where he bought several parcels of land. He lived first in Quakertown and later in Springport before spending his declining days in Elkhart. All Godfrey descendants owe him a debt of gratitude for his sketch of the life of his grandfather, Capt. David Godfrey.
