He served in the Revolution in the 4th Battalion, under Colonel Ely, in Captain John Ely's regiment. He was a farmer, and after living for many years in Woodstock he and his wife moved to Stafford, Conn., where they lived with their son Elias.

Ephraim married Tabitha CHAFFE on 14 May 1761 in Woodstock, Massachusetts. Tabitha (daughter of Ebenezer CHAFFE and Mary SCARBOROUGH) was born on 14 Jul 1739 in Woodstock, Massachusetts, now Connecticut; was christened on 29 Jul 1739 in First Congregational Church, Woodstock, Massachusetts; died on 19 Dec 1824.
