    Excerpt from"Early New England People": Rev. John Woodbridge was a distinguished non-conformist minister, who came to New England from Stanton, Wiltshire, England, in company with his uncle the Rev. Thomas Parker, in 1634. He was of the fourth generation from Rev. John Woodbridge, a follower of Wycliffe, born in 1493. It is said that in eachgeneration there was a Rev. John Woodbridge. Rev. John W. Woodbridge of Andover was the sixth Rev. John, in the regular line of descent."

John was elected Deputy from Newbury to the General Court of Massachusetts 1637, 1638, 1640, 1641; Associate Magistrate, County Court of Essex, 1678 to 1679. He was Chaplain to the Parliamentary Commission treating with King Charles I at Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight, 1647.

    Excerpt from " A Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New England 1620-1675": John, the first minister of Andover. He came to New England in 1634, and settled at Newbury as a planter, and was the town clerk, but becoming a preacher, he was ordained at Andover in Oct. 1645. Wend to England in 1647; returned in July, 1663, and took up his residence at Newbury; was elected an assistant in 1683 and 1684, and acted as a magistrate till his death, 17 March, 1695.

    Excerpt from Royal Families Americans of Royal and Noble Ancestry, Vol. 1, Thomas Dudley: He matriculated at Oxford university, but left the university because he would not sign the oath of uniformity. He immigrated in 1633-1634 to Boston and settled in Newbouy where he was the town clerk. He was ordained 24 October 1645 at Andover, Mass. He returned to England in 1647 where he was the minister at Andover, co. Hampshire, and Barford St. Martin's co. Wiltshire, from which parish he was ejected at the REstoration. He returned to New England, where he arrived in Boston 27 July 1663. He became an assistant of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1683-1684.
